Unions have unfortunately seen a massive decline in their power and relevance over the last 20 or 30 years as our economy has fully transitioned from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. 84% of union labor live in only 12 states. That really impacts their effectiveness.
I would expect a rocky road as the Unions struggle to re-invent themselves and try and stay relevant.
The service sector grows every year, spawning more service needs to serve the people who are serving. It's nuts!
It's part of the reason that the Service Employees International Union separated from the manufacturing-dominated AFL-CIO. That was a controvertial statement for someone, but was as objective as I could make it. ;-) | |
